Information about the AlanDale Grant-In-Aid Trail

OPENING DAY is June 13, 2026

AlanDale Trail is part of the Minnesota DNR GIA trail system of single track off-highway motorcycle trails. Trail maintenance and signage are completed by the Norsemen Motorcycle Club under general direction of the Minnesota DNR. Norsemen MC is a non-profit organization chartered by the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) and Amateur Riders Motorcycle Association (ARMCA), recognized as District 23. Norsemen MC promotes and supports off-road motorcycle racing and recreational trail riding. All trail maintenance activities are performed by club member volunteers and without this volunteer work there would not be a trail system.

AlanDale GIA Trail system is dedicated in loving memory of Alan Mathwig and Dale Grenwald founding members of the Norsemen Motorcycle Club and pioneers of off-road motorcycle riding and racing in Minnesota.

Users are reminded that although trails may be open, they are not guaranteed to be hazzard-free or passable at all times. Ride at your own risk and remember SAFETY FIRST!

04.11.2026:

We had a great crew show up and help on Saturday and were able to complete clearing the ATV trail. Starting at the parking lot, members used a drag on the dirt and picked rocks out of the parking area. They seeded the dirt areas.

We had one skid steer with a brush cutter and a tractor with a bucket and brush cutter that paved the way as crews followed behind each chainsawing and cleaning up debris. We also had people walking the trail on foot to make sure everything was tidy. The trail was getting soft by the end of the day but it held up and we were done with the work before it rained!

04.01.2026:

Today we want to share an exciting update on our GIA trail project and extend a very special thank you to our Sponsor Yamaha. The AlanDale system follows a stem and leaf design where the ATV trail serves as the main line with OHM loops branching off of it. However, the condition of the ATV trail is impassable due to years of severe storm damage. Yamaha's Outdoor Access Initiative grant program allows us to bring in a professional excavating contractor to install culverts, regrade, and rebuild the main line. Their generous donation directly advances our long term goal of creating a safe and sustainable tail system.
